Reducing monthly bills is something most home owners like to do, but unfortunately they don't really know how to proceed. The answer lies in nature, and it is nothing complex. Natural lighting is the best way to reduce the monthly lighting bill and it's not too expensive a venture to get into. There are several approaches that you could undertake, and some of them are discussed below.

The first thing you can manipulate into giving you more natural light are your windows. Windows can be set up in a way to invite more light, but it seems that function is often overlooked in house construction. And the rule is simple- the larger the windows, the more inflow of light into your home. But you must be particular about the windows' orientation, because if they are facing northward or southward, they are ineffective in achieving the desired results.

If you are not in favor of adjusting the size and orientation of your windows, you are more than welcome to try out skylights. These are intended for ceilings. They serve a similar purpose as the windows except in the orientation aspect. A diffuser is used to spread the light to all interior areas of the room. As usual, the size will ascertain its usability as the bigger it is, the more light to penetrate.

The only thing that you must set with these methods is your air conditioning system. Light emitted by the sun is linked with heat and your cooling system may have to work overtime.

But if you stay in an eco-friendly environment, then you must not worry too much about this since opening your windows should pretty much supply all your cooling needs. This can be even improved by availability of trees nearby.
